Eur Ing Dr Christoph S Wiesner CEng, FWeldI
Chief Executive Officer, TWI Ltd

"Following my appointment in July 2010 we have developed a 10-year view of TWI’s future which has been disseminated to all stakeholders. The purpose of The Welding Institute is to add value to its Members and their companies and to enhance the quality of life through engineering, materials and joining technologies.

To continue to grow and excel, we must have a deep-seated sense of our mission, the commitment to do something that is worth doing, and the drive to do it even better. And we must also be acutely sensitive to the market, listen to its signals and be guided by them and then apply the required business disciplines to adapt accordingly.

The Institute has grown significantly over the last decade both in the UK and internationally and I would like to sincerely thank all Members, volunteers, committee participants, boards and governing bodies for their continued support and contributions which makes this success possible."

Christoph Wiesner joined TWI in 1991, after obtaining a materials science degree in Germany and a doctorate in Switzerland. He spent twelve years as Project Leader in, and Manager of, the Structural Integrity Technology Group before being appointed Director of Research & Technology. In July 2010 Christoph took over as TWI Chief Executive.
