Vitolane TM resins enable new high performance coatings
TWI has developed a new affordable way of manufacturing silsesquioxanes called Vitolane ( www.vitolane.com). These materials form the basis of transparent 'glass like' coatings for polymers and metals which can confer special properties such as:
- Excellent abrasion resistance
- Anti-fog
- Non-stick
- Corrosion resistance
- Easy-clean
Vitolane can be chemically tailored to meet the needs of particular applications and its use is not limited to coatings, for example, improving the performance of adhesives. Patent protection has been applied for and TWI is developing applications with customers in many industries including automotive, aerospace and the oil and gas sectors. Any Member company interested in the application of this technology is invited to contact Alec Gunner ( alec.gunner@twi.co.uk) for further information.
