The Welding Institute's Certificate Course in Welding and Joining Technology for Students in Materials and Engineering

  • This is a short course which can be available as part of your undergraduate studies and provides a basic understanding of the technology of welding and other joining methods. It may also be available as part of a taught MSc and or PhD course
  • It is sponsored by The Welding Institute, with support from UK industry
  • When you take the examination for the course you will be given free membership of The Welding and Joining Society for one year and will receive a monthly journal. In addition, Graduate Membership of The Welding Institute will be given for one year to all those who complete the course and graduate
  • The Welding Institute will award a Certificate to students who complete the course successfully
  • The Certificate will demonstrate your understanding of welding to potential employers and will be a valuable addition to a degree
  • The examination is normally held in May each year and there is a nominal fee, currently £7.50 per student, payable on registration, for the examination. Registration forms, to be submitted by participating universities and colleges, are available from the Course Administrator - email wjs@twi.co.uk. The following information is available to assist lecturers and students.

A CD-Rom, entitled 'Introduction to Materials Welding and Joining' supplied by kind permission of Cranfield and Wollongong Universities' is available for all lecturers teaching the course.
