What is the usual application process for Professional Membership?

The Application Process consists of the folowing stages:

Submission by the applicant of Application Form with Proposer/Seconder or Referees; Authenticated CV (including academic certificates); Training Report; and, for applicants as Member, Senior Member or Fellow, a Case Study
Application is acknowledged and checked; staff recommendation on class of membership
Review of application by the Membership, Education and Registration Committee (MERC)
Notification of the Committee Decision plus any request for additional information required. Applicants will be advised if Individual Case assessment is required
For membership linked to corresponding Engineering Council UK registration (and other applications as indicated by MERC), a Professional Review Interview is arranged
MERC confirms the class of membership awarded
Notification of outcome with requests for fees followed by issue of membership certification and welcome pack
TWI registers applicant with Engineering Council UK (if applicable)
Applicant receives confirmation of registration direct from Engineering Council UK
