TWI Frequently asked questions

Why will I need a Professional Review Interview?

A Professional Review Interview (PRI) is a mandatory requirement of the Engineering Council UK for all candidates wishing registration with the Engineering Council UK at CEng or IEng level. Furthermore the Institute may also require a Professional Review Interview of candidates applying for membership only. This enables the Institute to ensure that you fulfil the competence and commitment requirements for membership of TWI as well as CEng/IEng experience (if applicable) and hold a post of responsibility appropriate to the level of membership/registration being sought. Annual development plans and profile of competence and needs are reviewed to ensure structured professional development. Engineering knowledge and commitment to continuing professional development are also assessed.

Interviews normally last for approximately one hour with a panel of trained assessors and you will be notified of the date and venue to suit your circumstances where possible. Travel may be required for the interview depending on availability of assessors on the day. Further information on what to expect at the interview will be sent to you when your interview date has been arranged. For more information on Professional Review Interviews, please see our Fact Sheet V.
