Technical areas discussed

Work on updating the thesarus was set aside for this meeting so the whole time was devoted to a discussion of whether the electronic version of the thesuarus should be open to the public via the website, and whether it should be charged for or not.

Resolutions passed

The decision was to make it available to the public without charge, for now.

Future activities of the Commission and/or Sub Commission(s)

Terminology for friction stir welding, arc welding, laser welding.
Updating of the IIW Thesaurus.

General comments, if applicable, on the value, level of activity, etc.

The work of this commission is very important now that ISO has passed responsibility for terminology to Commission IV.

SUMMARY FOR PUBLICATION

Attendance at the meetings of Commission VI was a little lower than usual at an Annual Assembly. Work continued on vocabulary for arc welding and thermal cutting. The latter is ready for publication. Sheila Thomas was elected vice-chairman, to fill the vacancy left by Dr. Mayer.
