Polymers Technical Group (TG7)

Plastic pipe testing

Polymers and composites are replacing traditional materials in a wide range of applications, mainly due to their low weight, wide range of properties, ease of processing and chemical resistance. However, in many areas of industry there is a lack of knowledge regarding when and where polymers and composites should, and can, be used and, how they can be joined to themselves and to other materials.

The aim of the Polymers Technical Group is to keep its members up-to-date with new developments in the areas of joining polymers and composites; testing and inspection of polymer joints; assessment of fitness-for-purpose of polymer/composite structures; and national/international standards relating to these areas.
