WorldSkills
This competition, considered the ‘Skill Olympics’, gives children and young people a chance to see various trades in action and provides lots of ideas for possible future careers and opportunity to speak to employers/companies. The next competition will be held in Leipzig, Germany in 2013
The WorldSkills competition gives hundreds of skilled young people from around the world an opportunity to demonstrate their skills and outstanding talents in over 40 skill categories, including welding and construction metal work.
To compete in the welding or construction metalwork categories you will be required to:
-
be no older than 22 years
-
be studying, training and/or working in welding, general fabrication, structural fabrication, shipbuilding, engineering construction and manufacturing
-
possess/working towards a S/NVQ level 3 in a related qualification
enter and excel at competitions held around the United Kingdom, such as SkillWeld

EuroSkills
Three days of competition. Over 450 young people from all over Europe competing against each other The ultimate prize they are all aiming at is the gold medal. Will next be held in Belgium 2012.
