If you would like to take part in IIW activities at any level, either as a delegate to an IIW Working Unit or as a member of a Briefing Group or Sub-Commission, please contact the Membership Office.
The objectives of the IIW UK Section are:
• to ensure that all UK interested parties derive the maximum advantage from TWI's
membership of the International Institute of Welding (IIW)
• to appoint or replace UK delegates to the Governing Council of I IW, and to advise them how to
cast the UK vote on the Council
• to appoint delegates to the Commissions and other working units of IIW and to replace these
delegates as appropriate
• to make arrangements to ensure that UK delegates on the Commissions and other working
units of IIW can receive, by means of Briefing Groups, the view of the representative circles in
the UK on the matters which, in their capacity as delegates, they are asked to consider
• to arrange for co-operative work to be carried out in the UK between such persons, firms or
other bodies as the Committee shall think fit, as a contribution to the programme of work of IIW
• to disseminate as widely as possible in British industry the results of the work of IIW through the
Welding and Joining Society and, in particular, the Technical Groups
• to ensure that the UK is represented by delegates of appropriate professional standing and
experience at the meetings of the Commissions and other working units
• to invite from time to time IIW to hold Annual Assemblies and meetings of Commissions and
other working units in the UK and to ensure that appropriate hospitality is provided for such
assemblies and meetings
• to undertake such other activities as may from time to time be necessary in order to promote
effective UK participation in the work of IIW and to disseminate the results of this work
throughout the UK through presentations at Technical Groups and other such functions
• to organise a meeting once a year, usually at the Annual Assembly, open to all delegates, at
which there will be presentations about the work of IIW and opportunities for discussion
