Professional
Professional Membership of The Welding Institute offers an internationally recognised mark of attainment for engineers, and technicians. Classes range from Graduate to Fellow and offer membership appropriate to a candidate's level of knowledge and experience. Membership can also be linked to Engineering Council (ECUK) registration. The Welding Institute is a Licensed Member of the ECUK and submits appropriately qualified candidates for CEng, IEng and EngTech registration thereby substantiating their status and competence within the engineering profession.
Welding & Joining Society (WJS)
Membership of the WJS offers access to The Welding Institute’s wide range of technical resources and information services and also offers access to our national network of regional branch and Technical Group meetings. These meetings offer a varied programme of Continuing Professional Development throughout the UK.
WJS Membership is available to:
- All who join the Society directly regardless of academic qualifications
- All Professional Members of The Welding Institute
- Members of an affiliated institution - for example, Institute of Rail Welding
- Official Representatives of TWI Industrial Members
- Persons who gain entry through a Register of TWI Certification Ltd (eg CSWIP)
- Students with concessionary membership
Association for Welding and Fabrication Training and Education (AWFTE)
There are two categories of AWFTE Membership available:
- Individual membership: for individuals working in Further Education Colleges, industrial training departments or commercial training organisations in the UK.
- UK College/university/organisation Membership: for organisations interested in the education, training and qualification of welders, fabricators, welding engineers and other technical personnel.
Institute of Rail Welding (IoRW)
Established in 2002 by The Welding Institute and Rail-track to provide a focus for rail-welding organisations and their nominees.
